Encouraging interest in the creative heritage of one of the most prominent writers of the Lithuanian literature Kristijonas Donelaitis and attempting to create conditions for the Prienai district cultural community to get together, bring sense into Donelaitis science and perceive the historical and cultural context of the Kristijonas Donelaitis period, Lithuanistic heritage of Lithuania Minor, carrying out the literature dissemination project “The Poets Begins on Earth (Lith. Poetas prasideda žemėje) (Just. Marcinkevicius), the library organised a 2-day literary trip, reading sessions, prepared a presentation of the trip “The Past is Lifted by the Hands of the Poet” (Lith. Poeto rankom praeitį kilnojam) (Just. Marcinkevicius), prepared provisions for creative reading competition “We must get rid / Of something ours / So it’s replaced by Donelaitis” (Lith. Privalom iš savęs / kažką išmesti, / kad Donelaitis / tilptų širdyje”) (Just. Marcinkevicius) and, in January 2014, organised this competition in the library of general education students of the district as well as adult readers. A list of references for publications about Kristijonas Donelaitis works was prepared and published online at www.prienubiblioteka.lt.
The literary trip was en route Prienai-Tolminkiemis-Gumbine-Isrutis-Karaliaucius-Rausiai-Prienai. During the trip, the readers visited Kristijonas Donelaitis’ homeland and his parish where he was a priest as well as the University of Königsberg. The readers made contacts and participated in a conference on Donelaitis in the Isrutis library in the Kaliningrad region. During the trip, photographs were taken of cultural heritage objects related to Kristijonas Donelaitis and other prominent cultivators of Lithuanian philology’s lives and activities. The trip included 35 readers and employees of the library.
